We've seen Metal come and go, we've seen Boy bands come and go, and right now, the big thing is Punk/Emo. But, as history has told us, that fad won't last another 5 years.
So, in your opinion, what is the next big thing in music?
I see it being metal again, not necessarily 80s metal, but just like...gothic stuff, darker stuff, and I see that taking over most of the emo/Punk kids right now. I dunno, its just my feeling.
Of course hip hop, in my opinion, in the US will always be #2, so that doesn't really count.
Discuss.

Electronica mixed with rock. Not techno. Electronica. Clubs will love it, and thats what people want. They dance to a song at a club then go and buy the cd and regret it because it doesnt sound as good on their small speakers.

I can understand that, but I don't think that'll be it, at least not in the US. Because, really, other than ravers and stuff, I've never known anyone to actually listen to electronica really, like, actually sit down and listen ot it. But who knows.
More opinions, people!

Pop-Metal perhaps. Bands that sort of bring punk and metal closer together, attracting the emo kids.

There seems to be a plethora of hardcore/metalcore bands. I hope this goth/industial thing kicks off.
that begs the question where will all the heavily tattooed musicians with the flesh tunnel piercings go?

well i think the emo thing went out with my chemical romance. i mean its still in but the peek has done past. i can't really predict what will be next but i will say that i believe southern style crunk rap is what seems to be in at the moment. or club shit if you will... i hate to say it but even in a city of hicks and rednecks... thats what even all the white people are listening to haha around here.
